Yakubu Aboki Ochefu is an academic, University administrator and entrepreneur. He was born in Kaduna on the 24th of October 1960. He had his primary school education at Army Children School, Dan-Tunku Road, Kaduna and secondary education at St. Gregory’s College, Obalende Lagos. He holds a B.A. Hons. degree in History and Ph.D. Economic History from the University of Calabar and M.A Economic History and Political Economy from the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom.
His teaching career spans the University of Calabar, Benue State University and Nasarawa State where he lectured from 1985 to 2012. He is a pioneer staff of Benue State University where he helped establish the History epartment in 1993. He held various positions in the University such as Head, History Department, Dean Students Affairs, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Director of Consultancy Services and Professor of Economic History and Development Studies. He is currently the Vice-Chancellor of Kwararafa University, a privately promoted community owned University, the only one of its kind in Nigeria.
Professor Yakubu Ochefu has over 70 publications to his credit including a 700-page book on the History of Central Nigeria that he co-edited. He is a founder of pioneer editor of four journals and currently seats on the editorial board of several others. He is a Fellow and former National President of the Historical Society of Nigeria. He is also a World Innovation Summit in Education (WISE) Leadership Fellow and recipient of the 2016 World Education Congress Award for Academic Leadership in Challenging Environments. The African Students Union Parliament under the Pan African Distinguished Leadership programme has also honoured him with an award of “Icon of Nation Building” in 2017.
In addition to his academic career, Ochefu who sees himself as an “Active Historian” has at various times, consulted for the World Bank, UNDP, DFID and IRI on Social, economic and political issues. He was a member of Governance Reform Team of the Benue State Government from 2000 to 2005 and a co-author of the “Benue Advance Plan” that was the development agenda for the George Akume Government (1999-2007).

Professor Ekanem Ikpi Braide, was born on March 6, 1946. She holds a BSc degree in Zoology (Ife, Nigeria 1971), MSc and PhD degrees in Parasitology/epidemiology (1973, 1978, Cornell, USA). She also holds a Certificate in Epidemiological Methods from Southampton University (British Council Course). She taught in Community Secondary School, Ugep (1966 – 1968), College of Education, Port Harcourt (1973) and University of Nigeria, Nsukka (1973 – 1976).
She served at the Nigerian Institute for Trypanosomiasis Research, Kaduna (1978 – 1979) as a pioneer officer/researcher in charge of the Onchocerciasis Control Unit of the Institute. Thereafter, she joined the University of Calabar in 1979 as a lecturer and was promoted to the rank of Professor in 1991. Prof. Braide’s research focus is on disease control particularly operational research, impact assessment of interventions, rapid assessment methods in mapping diseases and community initiatives in disease control.
She served as the Zonal Facilitator in the Nigerian Guinea worm Eradication Programme, South East Zone from 1988 to 1998 and on the WHO/FGN Guinea worm Eradication Certification Committee until Nigeria was certified guinea worm free in 2013. She coordinated Anglophone teams for African Programme on Onchocerciasis Control (APOC) multi-country impact assessment of onchocerciasis control activities in Sudan, Ethiopia, Uganda, Tanzania and Nigeria.
She was a member of the TDR/APOC team that developed RAPLOA, a rapid assessment tool for determining the prevalence of Loa loa for quick identification of communities in areas co-endemic for onchocerciasis and loaisis that are at high risk of severe adverse reactions to ivermectin treatment. Prof. Braide was a member of the WHO/APOC Technical Consultative Committee (TCC) from 2001 to 2006 and chaired the Committee from 2003 to 2006. She was also a member of the Mectizan Expert Committee from 2003 to 2006.
She served as a member (Alternate Chairman) of National Steering Committee, Nigerian Neglected Tropical Diseases Programme (2007-2008) and is current Chairman, Technical Advisory Committee, Cross River State Neglected Tropical Diseases Programme.

Dr. Mrs Esse Nwakanma Obianuju was born on April 6th. She holds a Ph.D and M.Sc in Social Works and a BSc degree in Public Administration (University of Calabar, Calabar).
With over 16 years of Experience, Dr. Esse Nwakanma has Coordinated and provided oversight to implementers working on multiple Global Fund projects (Global Fund R8-R9 projects) on HIV and Malaria with ARFH, SFH and IHVN as Principal recipients.
She supported the state officers in program planning, review and monitoring for quality delivery of intervention and ensured interventions were effectively implemented for high performance. State offices, LGAs and facilities for quality delivery of interventions for result and ensured value for money working with Global Fund Fiduciary Agents and participation in key technical work teams. As a trained super user on DHIS, Dr. Esse also contributed to the development of the CSO DHIS platform, database management and using Software for analysis & Monitoring and Research skills.
Madam Esse Nwakanma is the Pioneer Trustee of Positive care and Development Foundation and is also the Executive Director of the Organization.

Barrister Nwigwe Okechukwu Uzor is a seasoned legal practitioner with over 20 years of experience in the judicial sector. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated a deep commitment to justice, legal advocacy, and the protection of human rights. His expertise spans various areas of law, including litigation, corporate law, and legal advisory services.
As a respected lawyer, Barr. Okechukwu Uzor has played a pivotal role in providing legal guidance and representation to individuals, organizations, and institutions. His dedication to upholding the rule of law has earned him recognition within the legal community and beyond. His extensive experience enables him to navigate complex legal matters with precision and professionalism.
Currently, Barr. Okechukwu Uzor serves as the Secretary of the Board of Trustees for the Positive Care and Development Foundation (PCDF). In this capacity, he contributes to the strategic direction and governance of the organization, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory frameworks. His leadership helps strengthen PCDF’s mission to support vulnerable populations and promote public health initiatives.
Beyond his work with PCDF, Barr. Okechukwu Uzor is passionate about legal reform, access to justice, and mentorship. He actively engages in initiatives aimed at improving the legal system and empowering the next generation of lawyers. His commitment to social justice aligns with his advocacy for policies that protect human rights and promote equality.

Dr. Mike Egboh is a seasoned public health expert with over 19 years of experience in planning and implementing population and reproductive health programs. He holds a B.Sc. in Environmental Health and Epidemiology (University of Ife, 1983), an M.P.H. in International Health (Harvard, 1994), and an R.S.H. Diploma in General Public Health (Lagos, 1979).
As Country Director of Chemonics, Dr. Egboh has led multi-donor programs funded by USAID, DFID, CIDA, and major foundations, providing technical and financial support to over 50 NGOs, private sector organizations, and the Government of Nigeria.

Mrs. Joy Kusi Michael is a dedicated professional and an indigene of Cross River State, Nigeria. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Administration from the University of Calabar, Calabar. With a strong background in administrative leadership, she has built a distinguished career as a university administrator and entrepreneur.
Her journey with the Positive Care and Development Foundation (PCDF) began in 2002 when she joined as part of a support group advocating for vulnerable populations. Over the years, her commitment and dedication contributed to the group's evolution into a fully registered Civil Society Organization (CSO) in 2008.
As a passionate advocate for community development, Mrs. Kusi has played a vital role in supporting PCDF’s mission to address public health challenges, human rights issues, and social empowerment initiatives. Her expertise in administration has been instrumental in strengthening the organization’s operational and governance structures.
Beyond her contributions to PCDF, she has successfully combined her career in university administration with entrepreneurial ventures. Her leadership skills, strategic planning abilities, and dedication to service have earned her recognition in both academic and civil society spaces.
With her wealth of experience and unwavering commitment to social impact, Mrs. Joy Kusi Michael continues to be a driving force in community development, education, and advocacy for vulnerable populations in Nigeria.

Elder Chief Mrs. Christiana Effiom Ise is a seasoned social worker and former senior nurse who practiced in the United Kingdom. With a strong background in healthcare and community service, she has dedicated her life to improving the well-being of others through advocacy, leadership, and grassroots development.
As a former Local Government Chairman, Elder Chief Mrs. Christiana Effiom Ise played a pivotal role in strengthening community engagement and governance. Her leadership was instrumental in implementing policies and initiatives that prioritized healthcare, social welfare, and grassroots empowerment.
Her commitment to social development led to the establishment of the Positive Care and Development Foundation (PCDF) within the local community. Through her support, PCDF successfully conducted various programs aligned with its mission and vision, ensuring that vulnerable populations received essential services and interventions.
With her extensive experience in both healthcare and governance, she has been a driving force behind initiatives that address public health challenges, social inequalities, and women’s empowerment. Mrs. MarySalome Ushike is a dedicated senior nurse currently practicing at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital in Cross River State. With extensive experience in patient care, she has been a strong advocate for health and well-being, particularly in the areas of public health and community support.
As a pioneer member of the Positive Care and Development Foundation (PCDF) support group, Mrs. Ushike has been actively involved in the organization’s efforts since its early days. Her dedication to PCDF’s mission has helped shape the group’s impact on vulnerable populations, particularly individuals affected by HIV/AIDS and other health challenges.
In addition to her nursing practice, she serves as an adherence counselor for the PCDF support group. In this role, she works tirelessly to support caregivers and clients, ensuring that individuals receive the guidance, encouragement, and medical compliance necessary for better health outcomes.
Her compassion, expertise, and commitment to community service have made her a pillar of support for many within PCDF. Through her counseling and hands-on care, she has helped improve the lives of countless individuals, reinforcing the importance of adherence to treatment and holistic well-being.
